Its a family business that's been trading from the same place for years. If something's 'not right' about that sort of firm then they wouldn't survive once word gets around, so it's a good start. Had the car for nearly two months now. Experienced a breakdown and subsequently put it into a main dealer for a service and fault diagnosis. Turned out to be a split air intake hose and the problem with the pressure fault only showed up because it happened when I was towing a caravan uphill (rest of the time the car was running fine). Main dealer service didn't pick up that the battery was practically dead (another RAC callout to diagnose problem). If I had contacted Smarter Cars about the problems they might have put them right, but overall I don't think they can be blamed for those sorts of issues anyway. What I will say is that before I picked the car up (and after I'd already paid for it), I drew attention to a previous MOT advisory indicating that there was marked wear on all the break discs. Before I picked the car up they had replaced them all together with new pads. Would've cost me quite a chunk to do that myself but they did it without quibbling. Can't ask for more than that, can you? Would definitely buy from them again.

I recently bought a 2014 Peugeot 308 SW from Smarter cars. On initial inspection there was a few minor issues that Tony was happy to rectify before collection. Tony was honest and easy to deal with. He gave me plenty of time to look at the car without any pressure which was refreshing. Purchase and then pick up was also well communicated with no issues. After a few days and a heavy down pour the front drivers foot well filled up with water (common fault with this car) due to blocked drain holes under the scuttle panel. I contacted Smarter cars on a Saturday afternoon and explained the issue. Tony was extremely helpful and arranged for the car to be repaired at his mechanics garage. A further courtesy call was received on the Sunday confirming a courtesy car would be provided and the fault would be rectified. Touch wood….. the optional foot spa in the foot well (not an option I recommend) has been eradicated with no lingering signs of dampness. I would recommend Smarter cars and would be happy to buy from them again.
